Peruse handmade pottery and pick out your favorite piece at the Potters of the Piedmont Pottery Festival on November 9th. Meet some of the most accomplished potters in the region at this biannual festival held at Leonard Recreation Center. Admission is free but bring some spending money: artisans from all over the state as well as Virginia and South Carolina will be offering their beautiful handcrafted wares for sale.
Pay a visit to Blandwood Mansion, where Early Victorian Christmas runs November 14th through December 29th. Learn about mid-nineteenth century holiday traditions and see the mansion grandly decorated with local greenery reflective of the time period. Guided tours are available during museum hours, Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm and Sundays from 2 to 5 pm.
Get ready to lace up those skates for the opening day of Piedmont Winterfest! From November 15th through January 26th, LeBauer Park becomes home to an ice skating rink and ice slide. In its nineteenth year, this race benefits Greensboro Urban Ministries and features a 1 mile run at 9 am and a 5k at 9:30 am. Don’t forget to bring a food donation to packet pickup!
