Encore’s Wilmington Restaurant Week
January 29th through February 9th, various locations throughout Wilmington. Explore the culinary wonderland of the Port City with a visit to one of the many participating restaurants offering special multi-course menu options and fixed pricing. February 1st, 10 am – 4 pm at Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center, 120 S 2nd Street; 12 pm – 5 pm at Waterline Brewing Company, 721 Surry Street, Wilmington. Cozy up to all things coffee at this event that celebrates the craft of baristas, roaster, brewers, bakers and artisans! Enjoy local live music, food and coffee trucks, live demonstrations, lectures and even a latte art competition! Get tickets here.
February 6th, 6:30 pm, Cameron Art Museum, 3201 South 17th Street, Wilmington. Enjoy the musical stylings of the Andrew Berinson Trio, featuring Paul Creel on bass, Donovan Cheatham on drums and Andrew Berinson on piano. Listen to a mixture of original compositions, straight ahead and jazz standards at this month’s featured performance in the Jazz at the CAM concert series presented by the Cameron Art Museum and the Cape Fear Jazz Society. Care for dinner and a show? Head to the Cam Café before or after the concert for a satisfying meal. Tickets are $25 for non-members and $17 for CAM/CFJS members.
February 15th, 10 am – 3 pm, 1 Battleship Road, Wilmington. Explore the Battleship North Carolina in a truly interactive way as volunteers stand by throughout the ship, ready to bring history to life! Try on helmets, raise signal flags, use Morse code and semaphore flags, talk on rotary phones and sound-powered phones, type on vintage typewriters as well as learn about daily life aboard the vessel.
Poplar Grove Mardi Gras Celebration
February 22nd, 8 pm – midnight, Poplar Grove, 10200 US Highway 17 N., Wilmington. Celebrate Poplar Grove’s 40th anniversary as a public historic site with some added flair from another coastal city: New Orleans! The porches of Poplar Grove will be decorated in true carnival-style, providing a festive backdrop to sample cocktails and food truck fare. Be sure to come dressed in over-the-top mardi gras style (golds, purples, greens, feathers, bowties…!)
Come to the Cabaret: A Broadway Revue
February 29th, 6:30 pm, The Terraces on Sir Tyler, 1826 Sir Tyler Drive, Wilmington. Enjoy fabulous entertainment for one performance only on leap year day! Savor signature cocktails and a gourmet dinner as some of the finest performers from the local theater community salute Broadway! Tickets are $75 and proceeds support Thalian Association Community Theater and She ROCKS (Research Ovarian Cancer Knowledge Support).
